The job of Early Childhood Cook is done for the purpose/s of planning and serving age-appropriate nutrition and portions for children enrolled in the Little Bears Childcare LLC programs; supporting and maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe meal environment for the children.
Responsibilities will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Plan appropriate foods as they relate to the curriculum.
- Maintains inventory records.
- Follow all standards established by the Food Program, State Board of Health, and WI Rules and Regulations.
- Prepare and serve breakfast, lunch, and snacks following all applicable policies.
- Maintain all kitchen supplies.
- Purchase necessary inventory in accordance with the food budget.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, pantry, stockroom, and cafeteria.
- Works with other staff members to form a positive, supportive team atmosphere.
- Ensures confidentiality of privileged information.
- Maintains adherence to all center policies and procedures.
- Maintains adherence to the Wisconsin Licensing Rules and Regulations for a group center.
- Must work the days and hours scheduled to perform all assigned responsibilities and tasks, be punctual and timely in meeting all performance requirements, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines.
- Intervenes in behavioral incidents and potentially hazardous situations for the purpose of assisting children in modifying inappropriate behavior and/or developing successful interpersonal skills.
- Engages with children in various activities for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
- Participates in various meetings (e.g. staff development, staff meetings, etc.) to share information and/or improve one’s skills and knowledge.
- Responsible for the health, welfare, and safety of the children.
- Maintains daily attendance records.
Requirements:
- Must clear Criminal Justice Background check.
- 4 hours of continuing education in kitchen sanitation, food handling, and nutrition annually.
